Benghazi: Obama Administration's Cover-up Unravels
While the White House and the U.S. Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice vehemently claimed that the Sept. 11 attacks against the American consulate in Benghazi, Libya were spontaneous, experts and eyewitnesses tell a very different story. Indeed, the precision of the attack and the sophisticated weapons used by the assailers indicate that is was premeditated and very carefully prepared, to be a "Nine eleven, take two" (cf. September 11, 2012 – Learn the Lessons of Libya).
Clearly, the United States failed to act on vital intelligence, and the ultimate blame for that lies on President Obama.
Local militia leaders told CNN, as reported Sept. 16, that they had met with American embassy officials three days before the violence to warn them that the security situation was deteriorating. Jamal Mabrouk, a member of the February 17th Brigade, said he and a battalion commander told them the situation was "frightening, it scares us."
The Libyan President himself was very blunt about it on CBS's Face the Nation Sept. 16 that "The way these perpetrators acted and moved – I think we, and they're choosing the specific date for this so-called demonstration... this leaves us with no doubt that this was pre-planned, determined.... It was planned by foreigners, by people who entered the country a few months ago. And they were planning this criminal act since their arrival."
Then you have the testimony of a Libyan security guard, wounded in the attack, which is recounted in the Daily Telegraph. He revealed that the assault occurred before there were any demonstrators, it began with a single warning shot, followed by hand grenades and heavy shooting from automatic rifles and rocket-propelled grenades. He said the attackers' accents were Benghazi, they wore masks, and many had their trouser legs rolled up – a mark of the Salafist sect.
A few determined elected officials are determined to follow through on the investigation of this huge intelligence and security failure. Closed-door, classified briefings are to be held today, Sept. 20, with key members of both houses.
At a Senate hearing on Sept. 19 with Matt Olsen, director of the National Counterterrorism Center, he became the first Administration official to admit that the assault on the ambassador was a "terrorist attack", although he pretty much toed the Obama line on everything else.
At that hearing, Senator Susan Collins of Maine, who is the Republican head of the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, sharply disputed Olson's assessment about the lack of premeditation. "I will tell you based on the briefings I have had," she stated, "I've come to the opposite conclusion, and agree with the president of Libya that this was a premeditated planned attack that was associated with the anniversary of 9/11. I just don't think that people come to protest equipped with RPGs and other heavy weapons, and the reports of complicity, and they are many, with the Libyan guards who were assigned to guard the consulate, also suggests to me that this was premeditated."
Senator Lindsay Graham of South Carolina said as much on a previous occasion: "The Obama Administration's insistence that the attack on our consulate in Benghazi, Libya resulted from a riot inspired by a film, rather than a planned and coordinated attack, defies common sense. It is my belief, as stated by the Libyan president, that this was a coordinated attack by al-Qaeda or like-minded groups, and it points to severe lapses of security in a region where likely attacks can be anticipated. The bottom line is statements by the Obama Administration must be properly scrutinized, and that is the proper role of Congress."
There will undoubtedly be much more coming out on this blatant breach of security. For example, after forceful denials, State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland finally admitted Sept. 19 that a private security company from the UK was contracted by the State Department to provide security for the consulate in Benghazi. According to its website, that company, the Blue Mountain Group, has expertise acquired from years of working with the British SAS and other special forces.
As for Lyndon LaRouche, he has accused President Obama of complicity in these attacks, adding to the list of reasons why he should be impeached immediately.
