Reuters Reports on Cheminade's Campaign in France:
“A World without the City and Wall Street”
In the run-up to the April presidential elections in France, candidate Jacques Cheminade is getting more and straighter media coverage than in the past, including on major television and radio stations. Given that he was the only candidate, in the 1995 election, who denounced the "financial cancer" which is now visible to all, his credibility has soared.
So Cheminade's message is going out strongly, including on the urgent need to separate banking activities along the lines of the original Glass-Steagall Act in the United States and a law passed in France in 1945, after the Liberation of the country; and to introduce a public credit system to finance great projects.
Those very issues were highlighted in a communique put out Jan. 17 by Reuters on Cheminade's candidacy, which was picked up by several major news websites, such as Le Point, Capital.fr, La Tribune and Boursier.com.
It notes that Cheminade came under the influence of "the American economist Lyndon LaRouche who calls for a total reorganization of the financial system."
Cheminade, writes Reuters, rejects accusations of sect-like tendencies and attempting to indoctrinate young students. “Our offices are open, he told Reuters. 'These accusations are unfounded. It is claimed that we disturb young people and train them, but Nicolas Sarkozy entered the UMP party at the age of 15, and the Young Communists were young communists at the ages of 9 and 10.'"
Reuters also quotes Cheminade on why mayors are coming forth to sponsor his right to run for President: "they know that I announced as early as 1995, that a severe economic crisis would break out, and now it has broken out."
